Some Words (in a random order)

A community of artists
Had contracted measles.
Lately, this had spread to their easels
(But, fortunately, their weasels were blessed with immunity).
So, enquiring to the possibility
Of hiring (and quickly firing – when job done) some finishists (or anti-startists)
The painter-types sought fainter hypes
With which to remove the lots of spots
To prove that quainter pipes
May get the hots for painting pots
And crushes with those who wield brushes
Could yield bonus paints
Is this going to work?
We don’t know, I shirk
If you have a clue, please phone us
We need your assistance
In this subtle dance
We shall
In a while
That the resist stance
Is futile.

A Word (Or Several) to the Wise.

I want to find
A raspberry in February
That the moon ‘is’ made of cheese
Beggars can be choosers
And that up is down once in a while.

The ‘norm’ is not definitive;
Expect the expected
To unexpectedly not happen;
Cast your pearls behind swine
Fail to do that stitch
Not in the nick of time.

When all is said and done
Nothing left to chance
And we have all been led a merry dance
Let us honour our forbears
And look to the future
And the past? it shall come to pass.

So, at the going down of the Sun
Remember them. They might not remember us; but, that’s not the point

Of a broken pencil.
And there is no use crying
Even over spilt milk, spilt ink
Or split peas.

Hope this helps.

We Do What We Can

We do what we can
Sometimes that relates to little
Or nothing
But we have something
When we do words.

Please Move Along – Nothing To See Here!

move along!

move along!

These words do not exist
There is nothing here to see
Please move along
Forget about me
Nothing of any substance
To be read
In this place
And in the space
Of worthy words
Are these
That I have hired to look
After the page where they may go…

Was that money well spent?

NB Rush Words is where I just write short, sharp stuff – not too deep, not too much editing – it just is. G:)

Have I the Words? The Sequel!

Have I? Really?

Now that my travails are done
And I can relax into my writing state
What do I have to say?

How went my day?

It was nothing spectacular
And will be remembered for but a short while
Not that we need fireworks all the time
(That would soon leave me feeling numb)
Or constant laughter
(Liken that to living life in an asylum)

No, simple smiles
And warm thoughts of home
Are the order of the day;
Give me peace and love
And an inner happiness
That shields my heart from harm;
Then all will be good.

Thank you G:)

Have I the Words?

Have I?

I poise myself to write
Nervous, lest I am trite.
Have I the words of worth
Or should I refrain
From spouting fourth again
With little sense and meaning,
And much insensibility and preening?

No. I shall hold my pen’s tongue
Until my writhy tool
Has something of mine less unworthy
To scribe upon the Virgin canvas.

I may be some time
In the pursuits of a decent
And admirable poem to rhyme.

NB Have I the Words? The Sequel! Is available now on this site. G:)

How I Write (six minutes of time well spent?)

Let's not be hasty...

360 seconds…

(Start 21:59)

I write as I see fit

I don’t put extremes of thought into it

I just let the words flow

And see where they go

Which means that they surprise me sometimes

More often than not

What I write has ‘some’ quality in it

Just a bit

If I have some luck with the flow.

Sometimes, the rhymes are cool

Often they make me out to be a fool

Who doesn’t know the Arsenal from the group Elbow

It goes to show that I am shallow and fleeting

Not a proper poet who confers the greeting of peers

Whose fears at their vulnerability

Are not threatened by my limited ability;

Hence, my agility in writing  at speed

Will lead to the above…

And when push comes to shove…

Can I write a proper poem?

Well, if I had to.

(End 22:05)

Never a Cross Word was Heard

Almost, but no cigar!

Almost, but no cigar!

So 1 Down
And 3 Across to go
Two questions I read
(Rhymes with need)
Two answers that I
Just don’t think I know.

1 upmanship is surely wrong
And 2 dlepip is just strange
I have an idea
But it’s lonesome
On the range.

Never had a cross word in my life
Or seen a jig –
Well, perhaps, I saw one once
So I do feel a bit of a dunce:
And my oh my,
My comical, conical hat
Has a ‘D’ upon it
Fancy that!

So, the questions are these
1 Down: Definite Article (3 letters, second one is the ‘h’ of ‘Humpty-Dumpty’)
3 Across: Finally a trend (3 letters, the first is the ‘e’ of ‘Plectrum)

Rush Words (rashly spoken)

Let's not be hasty...

Let’s not be hasty…

Everybody says “Less is more.”
(Well, more or less everybody says it.)
I say: “The moral is in the lesson.”
And then wish that I hadn’t.
