My dog loves Larkin

My dog loves Larkin:

which is not that unusual;

if you consider that some dogs like music,

especially Bach;

but, poetry?

Why not?

Has a dog not got ears to hear;

a mind to think;

eyes to read the words—

hold on…

sorry, my dog loves Barkin’ –

easy mistake to make.

Busy Bee

I’m a busy bee

too busy for poetry.

When there’s a bee in your beer

When there’s a bee in your beer

please remove it;

I know you’ll be left with an ‘r’,

but I think that is better by far.

If there’s a bee in your ear,

and it’s not that easy to hear;

well, that’s a different matter altogether.

Predictable text

You know what I’m going to write,

even before I’ve writ it;

you’ve seen it all,

you know the path

my words will always take –

because I use predictable text,

and you know what comes next,

as originality I forsake.

Plant a feather today #WonkyWords

I picked up a pretty feather

from the place where it had flown;

I planted it in the garden;

I watered it, I fed it,

but, still, it hasn’t grown.

I was hoping for a magpie,

an eagle, or a crow

but, will my feather sprout at all

is a thing I do not know.

Too busy?

Too busy?

Too busy putting my writing into books

to write the stuff that will fill future books?

Yes, it does distract the mind from creating new poems or prose

when sorting out older pieces for inclusion

leads to a storybook illusion

that I can multitask across the universe,

and beatle about, whilst employing

my mind

in the writing of new arts of work.

Anyway, one book released to the unknowing world, and the follow up in hand,

I am doing something with some of the thousands of poems and pieces

that I have cobbled together

over the years.

‘Even Wonkier Words’ is progressing, and ‘Wonky Words’ is showing well in the places it has travelled to.

So, I might not be composing, or composting, as much, but it’s about time I did something with my words. And so I am.

See you on the flip side – unless anything amuses my muse before hand.

‘Wonky Words’

Just to let you know that ‘Wonky Words’ is now available on Kindle and as a paperback from Amazon.

My latest (mainly poetry) poetry book, is raising funds for @TheSanctuaryAngels who provide Angel grants to sanctuaries, animal shelters (and the like) all around the world.

Almost 90 pieces of hand-crafted work are within. Some of my photographs, and a few of my drawings accompanying the words – but don’t let my artwork put you off.

Please check it out at Amazon, download a free sample, write me a letter of complaint, go for a walk, be your own best friend, hug a toy hippo (real ones are a bit large for hugging).
