Arrivederci and Benvenuto

Arrivederci and Benvenuto

Arrivederci and Benvenuto;

Cynthia and Dexter;

these are the names of my previous

and my present Wellie Boots.

If I should buy a new pair

what names will they take?

E and F, the Initial letters,

of course;

but, what will suit them?

Effie and Fright?

Ellie and Frankie (Eleanor and Franklin)?

Ebb and Flo?

Any ideas?

No rush, I shall continue with Cynthia and Dexter

until they to Wellie Heaven go.

My Wellington Boots

My Wellington Boots

My Wellington Boots

are green and shiny

they’ve walked Cornwall’s lanes,

paddled in the briny;

protected my feet from

the rain and snow;

but, now, there’s a hole…

must they go?

I don’t want to get rid

of my Wellington Boots

I don’t want to trade them in;

I want to go back

to when they didn’t leak

but, now, when I put in

my two feet…

I get the dampest feeling

my toes become wet;

it’s quite uncom-for-ta-ble…

so, I guess, a new pair I’ll have to get.

“My Wellington Boot has a hole in it.”

“My Wellington Boot has a hole in it.”

My Wellington now has a hole in it

to my foot the water seeps

I cannot stay dry

No matter how I try

I cannot travel the deeps

(Up to 18” of course)

So, what shall I do?

Shall I buy a pair new?

Or will just the one new Wellie do?

I like the other one

It’s perfectly fine

and I like this pair of Wellingtons mine

My Wellington now has a hole in it

my foot is rather damp.

My Wellington Boot

has a hole in it

where now do I stand?

One foot in the water

One foot on dry land.
