To See the Sea

She went to sea

to see the sea,

and whilst she was there

she saw me;

she turned around

and headed home

no more to sail,

no more to roam.

I went to sea

I went to sea,

to see the sea,

and all I saw

was all the sea.

I was seasick

upon the sea,

the toing and froing

unsettled me.

The lunch I had

it didn’t stay,

over the side

it drifts away.

I learnt a lot

that single day

I learnt something

I shouldn’t say:

‘Never say ‘rabbit’

when you’re afloat,

your dog might jump

right off the boat’.

I went to sea

to see the sea,

and all I saw…

another me.

The See

I did not see

the sea;

by me

It was not seen;

I never saw the sea,

but I saw

where it had been.
