Poem Postponed – Frozen Pitch

Checked shortly before writing commenced,

it was found that the paper was too cold

for a safe writing of poetry.

‘Perhaps the writing

can be rescheduled for a later date?’

suggested the poet.

‘Maybe.’ answered the reader.

‘and maybe not.’

The crowd, expecting a good poem,

turned back at the news,

and went to the pub instead,

one of the throng said,

‘I was looking forward to the mismatch

of Oranges at half-rhyme.’

Most of the rest,

when put on the penalty-spot,

wrote it off as a ‘bad-lot’.
