I am an ackee,
at least, that’s what my parents told me;
I’m tiny and cute,
more fish than fruit,
and I look like a mixture of things.
A leaf sheep they say,
well, truth be known,
I was born this way.
Some people call me a sea slug,
others a freak;
but, do I look worried?
Do I care if I’m a geek?
No. I have my own place
in the ecological list;
and if I wasn’t here,
I’m sure I’d be missed,
by somebody who cares,
by someone who loves,
all the strange-looking critters,
be they urchins or bugs.
