Duck à l’Orange

Duck à l’Orange

Most poems are hard to write –

some are easy –

this one… was… ‘canard!

“Duck à l’Orange!”

I saw a duck

with an Orange,

in his mouth,

in his beak;

he tried to speak,

he looked pathetic,

but, kind of poetic,

like he was trying to own it,

to rhyme it

with something…

anything…

he was just waddling along,

talking to himself,

and, as you may,

or may not, know,

‘Orange’ in ‘Duck’

is… ‘Quack!’

but, even in Duck, it’s not easy

to find a rhyme for ‘Quack!’
