Ogden Nash’s ‘The Termite’ with audio

Some primal termite knocked on wood
And tasted it, and found it good!
And that is why your Cousin May
Fell through the parlor floor today.

  1. Oh Graeme, Ogden Nash is my favouritest poet (alongside Wordsworth and Blake and Chaucer and Shakespeare and Pope and a few more) but I’ve not seen this one before… or if I have I’ve forgotten it, being old and forgetful, in which case there are many good poems waiting to be re-discovered. The easiest Ogden Nash poem to remember for me is simply: ‘A bit of Talcum is always walcum’ Thank you Grae.
