April The Eighth

April The Eighth

“On the eighth day of April

my true love gave to me…”

well, not eight maids-a-milking,

that’s a truth;

I would need a couple of hundred head of cattle to keep them occupied – milking, that is.

Or they could do something else;

but, I can’t afford such a wage bill – I haven’t even got a farm.

So, what did I get?

Well, my true love gave to me the continued honour of her presence in my life – for which I am truly grateful.

And, in return, I gave to her my heart, yet again, as I do every eighth of April – and all the other days, too.

Why?

Because that is what we do.
