“Never Fall In Love With A Poet!”

Never fall in love with a poet;

they’ll write you into a Haiku,

a Limerick, a sonnet;

and, if you dwell upon it,

you’ll surely know it,

that your reputation will not do so well

as it seemingly does within a villenelle;

and a dodgy rhyming couplet may leave you terse;

so, please don’t have a dalliance

with a purveyor of verse;

unless you, too, have a fertile poetic imagination

And wish them to mow it,

Never fall in love with a poet;
