The Elephant in the Box.

The elephant in the box

opened up a can of worms

when he spoke the infamous line

’Is this box, that I am in,

within a room;

thus causing me to be the elephant

in the box

in the room?’

The worms ignored the elephant’s words;

and the words ignored the worms.

The worms squirmed to various (and sundry) corners of the box.

The words faded away into skeletal memories, gradually becoming ethereal non-entities.

The elephant proceeded to consider the relative properties of cardboard boxes against the inherent strength of African elephants.

Which is not poetical; but, it does move the story forwards.

Which story ends in something of an anti-climax.

For the box had no thoughts on the matter at all.
