As I Was Going To St. Ive.

As I was going to St. Ive

(Pronounced ‘Eve’)

– Not the St. Ives near Penzance, nor the one in Dorset –

But, the one near Liskeard, which is still Cornwall.

That one.

Anyway,

As I was going to St. Ive

I met a lady with two horses

Each horse had four legs

Each leg had one hoof

Each hoof had one shoe

Each shoe had between four and seven nails.

How many roads must a man walk down to avoid the potential for mathematical conundrums?

Anyway, as I was saying,

As I was going to St. Ive

I met Eamonn –

He was on his own.

And, as I was returning from St. Ive,

I met the lady with the horses again;

She only had one horse this time, and was travelling in the opposite direction (as was I) –

I didn’t ask her where the other horse had gone.

So, rider, horse, legs, hooves, shoes, nails…

If all else fails…

Make a list.
