A Poem For The Thirst Of The Year

A Poem For The Thirst Of The Year.

We are having an ‘exceptional’ amount of rain at this time of the year;

You can’t be having any, as all of it is here.

Forty day and forty night

(If my calculations are right)

And the level of the sea

Is coming into sight.

We’ll soon need boats,

Anything that floats,

To carry us away to safety;

Or we can live upstairs

And stand on chairs

To keep out of the flow.

We hope it stops,

The level drops

And dryness comes to stay;

Does it always rain through Christmas here

Unto the forth of May?

  1. I think the answer is Yes!, Coz I realised I oughta like water
    now I live in Kernow,.as well as needing bricks and mortar,and a porter, its sorta one of the main traditions here, out West . As for my daughter, she prefers Devon!
