#SoCS – LindaGHill’s challenge ‘liqu’

Linda G Hill’s SoCS ‘Liqu’

“A Reliquary”

Kept inside the box

My sacred thing

I keep with pride

Lest harm should bring

And hurt provide

The added loss

The cost I shun

Of losing.

(A Liquid falls from the sky)

Inside the safety of a locked box lay the precious gift of my ancestors.

(A Reliquary relinquishes)

I unlocked the lock,

Lifted the lid

To see once more

The thing therein;

But, “My, oh my!”

I cry

The box is empty

Alarm bells ring

My loss is all

And hopes do fall

So that I do call

To the Heavens

But, no answer is forthcoming

And I am to pay the cost

Of a promise now lost.

(Liquor soon replaces the water of tears)
