National Poetry Day Poems part 1: “Freedom!” By Graeme Sandford

I wish I had written this. G:)

I am not a silent poet

“Let me out!” I shout,

Then fall quiet.

Well, at least I’m keeping to my diet.

Nothing to eat,

Nothing to drink,

Nothing to do,

Except shout: “Let me out!”

I don’t know why I bother,

No-one can hear me,

No-one comes near me,

No-one cares about me,

Even when I shout: “Let me out!”

And if I sleep I dream of sheep;

Or a fish upon a silver dish;

I wish they would hurry up and: “Let me out!”

But, until then I shall just continue to shout:

“Let me out!”
