Beige Against The Machine

Beige Against The Machine
Beige against the Machine;

Stand up

And ‘do up’ the buttons on your oatmeal cardie.
Sip your cocoa,

Scorn Bacardi

And Coke.
Have a Nice biscuit;

Why not risk it

And have two?
Tune in to Radio 4

And listen to those Gardeners

Questioning time;

Or Poetry Please,

If you have the ‘nursery rhyme’.
And, when all is said,

And all is dun…

You can’t live your life

In the Modern Age

Dressed as a handbag

In thrifty shades of beige;

Be extravagant

And start wearing purple

Under the light of the current bun.
Beige against the machine.
Beige, Beige against the dyeing of the light…
brown.
