(#2) t.a. houseman presents… my poem ‘his dog’

t.a. houseman
presents…

my poem

“his dog”

(from the viewpoint of another)

his dog
sleeps.
like a log?
well, no
actually
as he is a made-up character
who doesn’t have a dog
whether it sleeps
like a log
or not
is of no particular relevance;
and, even if his non-existent dog
did sleep like a log,
that would be okay;
as ‘to sleep like a log’
is just a simile
comparing something to something else
it is not saying that his dog
(which, remember, doesn’t exist)
‘is’ a log
but, that it is ‘like’ a log
whilst
it is asleep.
i think that I have made my point.
