(Poem 4) 25 Poems in 24 Hours

Poem 4 – 03:00 16-05-2017

At 3 in the morning

There is a warning

Not a poem

More a song

If you’re lucky

It won’t be long

Before it’s over

And you can rest.
It’s been a test

Of how you cope

When ears are tortured

And there seems no hope

An alarum call of sorts

Wakes the senses

And it’s no good counting sheep

If they can’t jump the fences

That you erect in your mind

“Too tall!”

You say

And find

A flock of sheep

Keep you awake

With their incessant bleating

Defeating the object

Of you creating them at all.
Open your eyes

You may as well surmise

It’s time to rise
