Farley Church (Hampshire) – Poem from a walk 1

Farley Church Walk – Poem 1.

We went to Church this afternoon
We talked to God within His room
We told Him all the things we’d done;
And then He said “Son,
You have not done what I have asked,
All the things that I have tasked;
You did the things that you would do –
Who would have thought it? Who would? Who?”

I said “Is there an owl in the room?”

He wasn’t that pleased, and smote me there; and, then,
He smote me soundly once again.

So, please you,  take head of my sad tale,
Don’t be rash;
Or you might become a pile of ash.
